My Special Gift.....

Like everyone else, I received some nice gifts this holiday season. However, I have to say that my favorite is a very special gift that I received from my In-Laws. This is a gift that I will cherish and treasure for the rest of my living years. Fourteen years ago when Amanda was born, my in-laws went out and purchased a video camera to record the life of their new baby granddaughter. This camera however, was one that took the 8mm tapes (or whatever they were). To view the video, you had to hook the camera up to the TV or get a special VCR tape adapter thingy.... Anyway, years ago I mentioned that I really would like to have them transferred to VHS so I could have my own copies (before DVDs were the thing). They never got around to making copies back then, however this Christmas I received my very own copies of the "Amanda Movies" on DVDs. I couldn't believe it! I cried when I opened the box....I can now watch and hear my "baby" whenever I want. Together we can enjoy her younger years and she can also pass them on to her children as well. :o) I was just soooo excited!!!

In viewing my DVDs, we ran across something funny.....back then Mike and I were able to borrow the camera from time to time. Apparently, right after they got the camera Mike & I took it to the New Year's Eve Party we went to Dec. 31, 1993! The party was at Rob's house and it was my first night away from Amanda and the first night of drinking after having Amanda as well. Anyway, nothing really funny happened on video, but there were people that we haven't seen since then or at least for years. Rob had hair (A LOT of hair) and was thinner, Damon looked like he was 12 and I had too much hair and big bushy eyebrows. Rob, Karen, Chris & Bill will be the only others to recognize any of the people in the video, but it was just weird that we had our New Year's Eve on video from 14 years ago. LOL!
